Ownership and Governance
JITA Bangladesh is a Joint venture between CARE International (Care Enterprise Inc.) and Danone Communities. Care owns the majority share of JITA and controls the governance in the board.
Care Enterprises, Inc.(CEI) is a business venture started by CARE, the international development organization, which aims to create transformative, dignified, economic opportunities for people experiencing poverty by investing in sustainable and scalable social enterprises. Its objective is to create sustainable income for 1 million marginalized people by 2025, lifting them out of poverty with economically sustainable enterprises. CARE Enterprises deploys resources towards proven models that can offer the perspective of impact at scale.
At the initial stage, CARE Enterprises pilot social business models which reflect potential to become game-changers in fighting against poverty and transforming lives. The organization is composed of experienced social entrepreneurs, with knowledge of emerging markets, operating in close alliances with leading academic, public and private sector as well as peer NGO partners, in an open source philosophy.
Danone Communities is a “social businesses network and its mission is to fund and develop local businesses with a sustainable economic model, oriented towards social goals of reducing poverty and malnutrition. Alongside social entrepreneurs, this support goes through both investments as well as by a technical support through a network of committed experts who convey their experiences. Beyond its projects, Danone Communities wish to share lessons to inspire other individual and collective initiatives in the service of a more cohesive society.
